Mythical Mount Ararat

Hitchhiking with some members of PKK and coming closer to Doğubeyazıt, we saw IT. Mount Ararat. It was love at first sight! We felt a great need to climb up this magnificently looking mountain, even though we hadn't planned it.

Indeed, we hadn't even known that the very next day we would be eating a muskmelon in the first camp! Sunrise seen from the top of the summit (5137 m AMSL) is an experience that we'll never ever forget.

According to the Bible, Noah's ark came to rest there. Mount Ararat plays a significant role for Armenian. Currently it is located in Turkey, though it's Kurdish-inhabited area.
